Special Chief Secretary of Energy Department K Vijayanand asked the district collectors to create awareness among the people about the PM Surya Ghar Yojana scheme and ensure that registrations and installations increase.
6.39 lakh people have registered for this scheme under APEPDCL, APCPDCL and APSPDCL through the national portal. Out of these, 77.09 thousand people have applied. Out of these, 6.5 thousand installations have been completed. He said that through this scheme, the center will provide a subsidy of Rs. 30 thousand for each kilowatt, Rs. 60 thousand for two kilowatts and Rs. 78 thousand for 3 kilowatts. As part of this scheme, Rs. 10.88 crores under APEPDCL, Rs. 7.74 crores under APCPDCL, and Rs. 6.64 crores under APSPDCL, totaling Rs. 25.27 crores, have been released as subsidy to the beneficiaries.
He said that the state government is planning to undertake free installation of household appliances for SC and ST consumers. There are 6,77,146 people under APEPDCL, 5,9,587 people under APCPDCL, and 7,42,947 people under APSPDCL, totaling 20,17,947 SC and ST consumers across the state. He said that registering them will be a game changer. District collectors have been advised to monitor the rooftop solar installation program for SC and ST consumers. They are staying away from the scheme, not knowing that they can earn money along with solar energy. In fact, through this scheme, electricity can be generated from the roof of the house. They can also earn additional income by giving the surplus electricity to the government for their own consumption. Usually, if the electricity consumption in a house exceeds 12 units, the bill will be around a thousand rupees. Officials say that setting up the same solar root off will cost only Rs. 338. It is estimated that up to Rs. 8 thousand will be saved per year. Under the Surya Ghar scheme, a roof top with a capacity of one kilowatt, producing 12 units, can be set up in a 100 square foot area. The cost for this is around Rs. 60 thousand, but the government will provide 50 percent, i.e. Rs. 30 thousand, as a subsidy. The remaining amount can also be obtained as a loan from banks. To avail this scheme, you have to go to Google Play Store and download the PM Surya Ghar app. There is no app.
